<18> This paper, on a unified framework for proving security of block cipher based hash functions, won the Best Paper Award at FSE 2009. The work was later used by Andreeva, Mennink and Preneel to analyse the second round SHA-3 candidates. The author was invited to incorporate this work into a journal version, alongside earlier work of Black et al on a similar topic, for the Journal of Cryptology (http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00145-010-9071-0).
