<17> The work in this paper was part funded by Granada TV and the BBC as part of the ICBR project. The results were used by Thales [Contact:Chief Scientist, see audit file], in an MOD grand challenge competition to enable an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to conduct surveillance and object detection and classification on board before sending the relevant information to a ground station; thus dealing with the bandwidth constraint inherent in UAV usage. This work led to further research including an international project funded by EPSRC (EP/G050600/1 and EP/J016705/1, value £600k) for detecting disease in agriculture crops.
