Additional information

The paper introduced a novel solution for intelligent energy management in battery operated wireless sensor networks. This solution comprises a number of new intelligent techniques that operate at both network and sensor node levels, conserving energy at different granularities. A thorough experimental study has proved the superiority of the proposed techniques by significantly prolonging network lifetime when compared with the renowned HEED protocol. Significance of the work is noted in Hsieh et al (DOI 10.1007/s10115-012-0529-2) for object tracking as an important application of wireless sensor networks, and also in Chen (DOI 10.1016/j.compbiomed.2013.08.001) as making a “great progress” in energy management.
