Additional information

The research, never previously reported, is uniquely novel and involves integrating Genetic Algorithms with Adaptive Control of Thought – Rational (ACT-R), the software architecture that simulates human cognition. Our aim is to automatically optimise the visual layout of Graphical User Interfaces based on simulated user interactions. This provides automated usability evaluation. The results demonstrate significantly improved visual layouts after automated optimisation. This research is a significant starting point for new simulation architectures and automated usability evaluation.
