Additional information

An important market for high-brightness solid-state lasers will be projection display technology. Efficient wavelength conversion of the emission of the laser diodes themselves, instead of the conventional intermediate pumping of the IR active media in SSL, is a significant technological step, successfully explored for green/blue lasers. In both, intracavity doubling of the IR radiation of 49 single-mode edge-emitters diode bar was used. MgO-doped periodically polled LiNbO3 crystal assured high-efficiency second-harmonic generation. Compact packaging design, low radiation noise and stable operation make this technology promising for further engineering of laser projection technology.
