Additional information

This paper develops an analytical model for the interaction between a pumped fluid and the actuating mechanism of a valveless “micropump”. These micropumps find use in many applications including drug delivery. A novel aspect of the model is the incorporation of the connecting network of channels around the pump. Additionally, the explicit coupling of fluid flow and pump structural dynamics generated a solution that is far simpler than in previous published models. Significantly, using this new model, it is possible to greatly simplify the design of valveless micropumps such as for drug delivery.
