Additional information

This was short-listed for the Roberts Prize which the Institute of Physics awards in recognition of the best article published in Physics in Medicine & Biology each year. The article is important in demonstrating that a low-dose CT, specifically designed for use with SPECT (Hawkeye: GE Healthcare), provides improved low-contrast object detection compared to conventional diagnostic CT operated in low-dose conditions. The assessment involved comprehensive experimentation with quantification of performance parameters and remains as the only significant published evaluation of this system. The paper helps establish the non-diagnostic use of this system for localisation and attenuation correction of SPECT data.
