Additional information

In 2001 we developed a novel approach to define the UK national height datum, selected as national standard in 2002. The new model in the paper improves the fit to the benchmark network by a factor of two, and will define the new UK height datum, (released late 2013). The work was conducted with industry (Ordnance Survey), and has international partners from the Danish National Space Centre. It also proposes a novel approach for testing of satellite-derived gravity field models. This was adopted by DLR (German Space Agency) to test the new gravity field mission GOCE, using the study’s data.
