The research project, of which the book is a product, extended over six years and was intrinsically multidisciplinary, requiring intimate familiarity with the relevant history, law, political theory and military doctrine. In this request for double-weighting, the panel is asked to consider both the extensive scope of the project overall and the complexity of the discrete topics treated, each of which required its own specialist knowledge-base.
