Additional information

This research, concerning a novel 2D morphodynamic model to predict dam-break flows over mobile beds, was funded by the EPSRC (part of the FRMRC programme). The 2D shallow water equations were modified to represent water–sediment mixture

flows, thus the effects of sediment concentration and bed evolution on the flood wave propagation process could be more accurately predicted. The research was conducted in conjunction with eight HEIs in the UK and Wuhan University, China and has led to additional research, funded by the EPSRC (part of FRMRC II programme), at Cardiff University.
