We have developed a new concept of "virtual vortex generators" based on surface plasma, and have shown for the first time the physical mechanism of vortex formation in comparison with existing vortex generators. This work has contributed to the formation of an EU project consortium, PlasmAero (Daniel Caruana daniel.caruana@onera.fr).
