Additional information

This publication demonstrates the use of UV light for curing an epoxy adhesives. The UV light is distributed via side emitting (or leaking) optical fibres within the bondline. Therefore, they can be embedded within structures without the need for direct exposure to a UV light source. The optical fibres serve a double purpose as sensors for deflection and damage monitoring of the composite structure along the bondline.
