Additional information

Richard Brome Online, www.hrionline.ac.uk/brome, consists of a free-access electronic edition of the complete plays of the Caroline dramatist Richard Brome (1593?-1653). Alongside conventional scholarly apparatus - covering bibliographic, linguistic, historic, political, cultural and literary commentary – Richard Brome Online also allows access workshop sequences where individual editors collaborate with professional actors to explore performance challenges and opportunities in Brome’s sixteen plays. These performance workshops assisted editorial processes as well as demonstrating something of the theatricality of Brome’s commercially successful drama.

Richard Brome Online was published in 2010 by HriOnline (Sheffield) and updated in 2013. The project was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. (ISBN 978-0-9557876-1-4)

Elizabeth Schafer edited The City Wit: www.hrionline.ac.uk/brome/viewTranscripts.jsp?play=CW&act=1&type=BOTH

and produced the performance history survey for all the Brome plays at: www.hrionline.ac.uk/brome/history.jsp. Schafer also wrote the performance history for The Jovial Crew and this appears as part of the critical introduction to that play at: www.hrionline.ac.uk/brome/viewOriginal.jsp?play=JC&type=CRIT
