Additional information

An ms isomeric state was measured in 97Rb. This constitutes the first measurement of excited states in this nucleus and this state may be an oblate-deformed. The ground-state has been measured to be prolate deformed, giving a rare case of oblate-prolate shape coexistence. The isomeric nature of this state means that it can be studied in detail unlike other similar candidates in this region. I have performed this experiment, supervised the PhD student analysing the data and written the article. An international measurement campaign focussed on the properties of this isomer has begun.
