Additional information

The author was responsible for developing a dimensional uncertainty model for deformable components and complex aerospace assemblies while considering the effects of designed GD&T, material compliance and assembly processes. The work reported in this paper is authored with industrial collaborators. The implementation of the work reported in this paper can be found in another research publication in the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology DOI 10.1007/s00170-013-5262-9. The practical implication of this study highlights what information is needed for predicting assembly variation and how this information can be utilised for revising initial variation model, depending upon progress of the assembly build.
