Additional information

<31> Data intensive case-based reasoning has been recommended as a useful technique for software cost estimation since 1996. However, in 2001 it was reported that the data-intensive method had a major flaw. Because it was not based on a formal statistical model it was liable to detecting spurious relationship and delivering incorrect predictions. This paper solved the problem. Using Mantel's Correlation and a randomisation test, it developed the first objective statistical process for assessing the applicability of data intensive case-based reasoning on a specific data set.
