This chapter by Sandino is in an international (USA, Finland, UK, Sweden, Canada, Germany, Israel) peer-reviewed publication challenging ‘narrative coherence’ in the fields of narrative research in medicine, the social sciences and the arts. Sandino draws on Paul Ricoeur to explore two craft artists’ narrative identity based on interviews she has conducted which are archived on her ‘viva voices’ website. The essay outlines Ricoeur’s work on narrative and identity and demonstrates how it can be applied to the field of art and design studies. The chapter and the book were reviewed in J. McLeod, ‘Narrative Coherence, Co-incidence and Listening in-between’ in Current Narratives 3: 2011.
