Additional information

First model of strain-accelerated biodegradation based on thermodynamic constraints, funded by USA NIH (R01 EB000115, $1.5m). Potential applications span all biodegradable devices (cardiovascular, orthopaedic, etc.). This and 5 related follow-on papers have been cited by academic and industry groups in seven different countries working on polymer formulation/development, tissue engineering scaffolds, material modelling, and arterial biomechanics. With a second grant from the USA NSF (1067750, $330k), we are implementing models in ANSYS software, whose publishers are partners in the NSF grant.
