Dispersion Experiments in Central London: The 2007 DAPPLE project
Represents interpretation of tracer dispersion data from a high-profile collaborative UK urban field campaign with Home Office backing. Provides invaluable data for the evaluation of hazard response models. Highlights important dispersion features of hazardous releases such as the possibility of upwind transport which would not normally be predicted by simple models previously used to estimate evacuation zones. Outcomes were summarised in report to the Home Office on contamination zones following a possible accidental/deliberate hazardous release of toxic materials in a major UK city and subsequently used in the development of emergency response information for first responders (CFD+leaflet - classified access).
