English abstract

"Le Cinéma français de la Nouvelle Vague à nos jours" is a comprehensive history of French cinema history, including aesthetics, economic, legal and political aspects. It also includes analysis of the works of more than one hundred major filmmakers and overviews of the major stylistic trends in French cinema. It covers the period 1959-2009. This book is a completely rewritten and widely extended version of a previous book, "L'Age moderne du cinéma français" (Flammarion, 1995).
