An experimental investigation into the influence of user state and environment on fading characteristics in wireless body area networks at 2.45 GHz
This was the first paper to perform a full characterisation of second order statistics for wireless channels in body area networks (BANs). It was extremely novel in that it used bespoke sensors to measure signal reception compared to previous instrumentation and cable based approaches which were prone to perturbation effects caused by cables. It also provided the first physical interpretation of the propagation characteristics responsible for the manifestation of fading in BANs. This work has formed the basis of collaboration with the University of Campinas, Brazil.
