Managing uncertainty in integrated environmental modelling : the UncertWeb framework
<16> The 2.5M euro FP7 UncertWeb project required systematic analysis of uncertainty management across a wide variety of integrated modelling frameworks, and development of tools to lower the entry barriers for scientists. A circulated draft of this paper generated several new collaborations: Landcare Research New Zealand (RitchieA@landcareresearch.co.nz) will use UncertWeb standards in their contribution to the Global Soil Map, and HR Wallingford (Q.Harpham@hrwallingford.com) recognised our contribution to handling uncertainty in OpenMI models (http://www.openmi.org/openmi-awards#TOC-Announcement-of-Winners). The free, open-source tools and APIs described have been very well adopted internationally, with over 145 online users/downloads in the 10 months to July 2013. (http://www.uncertweb.org/software).
