Additional information

Following on from Goh Radiology, 2008, this was the first study to demonstrate the potential of colorectal cancer blood flow measurement by perfusion CT as a prognostic biomarker: low flow tumours appear more likely to metastasize. This study led to successful NIHR funding in 2009 of a multi-centre clinical trial (PROSPeCT: CI - Goh, £1.3M) to assess generalisability within the NHS, using Perfusion CT to predict likelihood of metastasis and develop a prognostic model for colorectal cancer. This trial is enabling the technique to be embedded within the NHS at 22 sites, and to develop standardization & quality of practice.
