Additional information

This research presents innovative methodology for systematically evaluating resilience of different design options implemented in urban (re)development at various scales. It builds on substantial literature on use of scenario-based approaches to aid future planning, whose potential to help shape urban environments had not hitherto been explored fully. It was used in conjunction with city authorities and development organisations in UK and overseas (Lingfield Assets LLP; Jonathan Hart, CEO, jhart@lingfieldplc.com) and was funded under £3.2M EPSRC Urban Futures project (EP/F007426/1). The approach’s potential was recognised by BRE who published it as Designing resilient cities: a guide to good practice, ISBN-13: 9781848062535.
