Additional information

This research, supported by EPSRC grant EP/E00184X/1 (£7,290,747) led to a new approach for metrology integration within the full lifecycle of products developed in collaboration with high value, large size product manufacturers: Airbus UK, Rolls-Royce, EADS Astrium, Vestas, Renishaw, FARO, Hexagon and RPI. Such integration reduces waste in all stages of manufacturing by providing full visibility on the related design, manufacturing, assembly, and verification stages of a product development and manufacture. The framework was further utilised in the subsequent collaborative projects with Vestas Blades and Airbus R&T, Filton, UK. (Mark Summers, Head of Manufacturing Engineering Research, Airbus, UK, mark.summers@airbus.com).
