Additional information

Following the introduction of European legislation to test vehicles for pedestrian impact a unique pedestrian computer model was created to include walking and running gait motion and was validated against physical tests in the University’s Vicon motion capture laboratory. The research is part of a 10 year ongoing programme of research projects in automotive safety working in direct collaboration with TNO Automotive Safety Solutions (TASS) (Robin van der Made, Product Manager, robin.vandermade@tassinternational.com). The research has contributed to the development of the TASS industry standard Madymo software, used globally by the automotive industry for occupant and pedestrian protection.
