Additional information

This work on in situ inelastic neutron scattering (INS) of nickel reforming catalysts pushes INS to new limits and with other analytical techniques providing new, detailed insight into the surface species formed on the nickel surface during methane reforming. This paper resulted from a major collaborative project between Keele University, Glasgow University and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, funded by substantial EPSRC (EP/E028861, EP/E030580) and STFC Programme grants. The research led to numerous invited talks at international conferences including at the 2012 and 2014 American Chemical Society Conferences, and a nomination for the Eni Award for New Frontiers in Hydrocarbons.
