Sarah Lucas: Au Naturel
This publication was commissioned by the editors of the prestigious Afterall One Work series on the advice of the internationally renowned art critic and contributor to the series Jan Verwoert. There are very few monographs on the artist Sarah Lucas, this publication is therefore a major contribution to the literature on this acclaimed international artist that provides vital scholarly analysis of her practice from the vantage of Au Naturel (untitled) 1994 and considers its importance to the existing literature, it is particularly important in its innovative analysis of humour as an example of the object speaking back to theory.
This directly led to a book contract from IB Tauris for my next project 'Migratory Aesthetics'; an invitation to give a talk at the Henry Moore Foundation as part of Sarah Lucas’ solo show Ordinary Things ‘Between multiculturalism and a new internationalism? Sarah Lucas in the mid-1990s’ (2012); a catalogue entry for Situation exhibition catalogue for retrospective on Sarah Lucas at Whitechapel Gallery, London (2013) and a citation by Andrew Harris ‘Art and gentrification, pursuing the urban pastoral in Hoxton, London’ in Transaction of the Institute of British Geographers (2012).
