Additional information

<22> This paper was the outcome of a sabbatical of Dr Vallejo from the University of Castilla-La-Mancha, Spain. The work builds on common research interests of both the Digital Imaging Research Centre and the Spanish Oreto research group. The main idea behind the paper is a combination of agent technology and computer vision methods to provide users with a suite of algorithms for the intelligent monitoring of conventional but complex scenes. Since this work is interdisciplinary, including computer vision and distributed computing components, the paper has attracted interest from both research communities. Remagnino designed the video processing component and its validation.
