Additional information

<23> This approach of mathematical morphology provided a high performing technique in the detection of one of the early signs of diabetic retinopathy. Most exudate detection techniques are developed to work on dilated pupil images. This algorithm showed good performance with respect to non-dilated pupil images which are often low quality. A very good citation rate is a reflection that the algorithm has found wide use because of its robust performance on even low quality images.
