<23> An approach for subpixel registration was designed based on previous work on motion estimation using gradient information. The proposed scheme models the dominant singular vectors of 2D gradient correlation matrices with generic kernel which is derived from the structure of gradient correlation assuming natural image statistics. This method for subpixel image registration can be applied on super resolution, medical imaging and satellite applications for tracking and registration. It operates in real-time and that makes it attractive for industrial and mainly military applications. This work was part of a research project with the Data information fusion defence technology centre.
