This 320 page monograph is the first study ever published of the British political movement, the Liberal Unionist Party, which was in existence for twenty-six years. Its preparation required the consultation of a complex range of unpublished primary source material held in a large and geographically widespread number of public and private archives. It also involved research into contemporary printed materials from across the political and social spectrum, such as newspapers, political propaganda and memoirs, held in a range of libraries. It includes the first full list of all Liberal Unionist MPs and all electoral contests which the Party fought.
