Double-weighted statement

This 262 page book of approximately 125,000 words is based on the author’s original research over two decades, funded through a series of Anglo-German Foundation and ESRC Awards (graded as outstanding in ESRC end-of-award reviews). It offers an overarching analysis of relationships between learning, work, personal agency and wider social responsibility. The approach, drawing on Ragin, creates an extended dialogue between ideas and evidence, extending to specific international comparisons and wider explorations of the central theme: the possibilities for change in learning, work and social responsibility engendered by reconceptualisation of ‘social structures’ and their relationships to people’s aspirations and capabilities.
