Additional information
<23> Photometric Stereo (PS) has been used extensively for reconstruction of ancient inscriptions, coins and manuscripts. This paper introduced an important minimal setup of PS, where only two different illuminations can be used. The analysis showed how, by exploiting further geometric constraints, one can still use this reduced data to extract high quality reconstructions. This greatly simplifies the hardware necessary and significantly broadens the scope of PS technologies. Toshiba Research filed a patent to protect this IP (WO/2010/041584) and is currently developing the technology. (Dr B Stenger bjorn.stenger@crl.toshiba.co.uk).
