Additional information

This work is the first demonstration of a novel nanoelectromechanical switched capacitor based on vertically aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Nanoelectromechanical devices based on carbon nanotubes have been reported previously, but this is the first time researchers have been able to control the number and spatial location of nanotubes over large areas. This precision is needed for the production of integrated circuits and the device reported in the paper. This work was patented in the USA (US771911, US7564085 and US8064249).
