The Struggle for Identity : Greeks and their Past in the First Century BCE

This volume resulted from an international conference at Bonn University. Dr Wiater conceived the topic and organized the conference, which was funded by the DFG; the volume was jointly edited with Professor Thomas Schmitz. The substantial introduction was written by Dr Wiater and then revised jointly with Professor Schmitz; it integrates the results of the chapters into a comprehensive discussion of Greek cultural identity in the first century BCE. Wiater also contributed a lengthy chapter examining Dionysius’ historical work as an expression of cultural identity.
