Additional information

Polymer-graphene oxide nanocomposites (PGNs) have impressive properties and their commercialisation is estimated to be worth about $325million by 2017 (http://www.bccresearch.com/market-research/nanotechnology/nanotechnology-market-applications-products-nan031e.html). This was the first quantitative interpretation of the mechanical enhancements in polymer-graphene oxide nanocomposites (PGNs) by considering the contribution of the interfacial region. The research into the mechanical behaviour of PGNs serves as a powerful guideline for the design and development of PGNs. This work has led to the award of a METRC grant with Scott Bader Company (clive_williams@scottbader.com) to develop the commercial exploitation of these materials.
