Additional information

A general procedure that decouples the optimization algorithm from the physical problem through surrogate functions and is thus applicable to various heat-sink configurations is discussed in this work and a novel heat-sink design is proposed and optimized. The present investigation and subsequent studies (e.g. Karathanassis et al, IJThSc, (67) 177-191, IJHMT (61) 583-597) form the basis of cooling configurations suitable for linear concentrating photovoltaic/thermal systems to be “commercially exploited” in demonstration projects in Greece («Greek National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2014-2020», Archimedes-Solar)
