Carbon nanotube modified carbon composite monoliths as superior adsorbents for carbon dioxide capture
Describes a novel formulation and activation process to control the microstructure of a phenol/formaldehyde polymer-derived active carbon monolith using just 1 wt% carbon nanotubes. This increases post-combustion capture of CO2 (for greenhouse mitigation) and the adsorption / desorption kinetics to world leading levels with much less processing and expense than competing materials. This paper was awarded the cover illustration in this very high impact journal and was instrumental in gaining an ongoing industry-funded (Australian National Low Emission Coal (ANLEC) R&D) project to further develop the technology.
