Additional information

A component-based approach to modelling of the progressive collapse of steel/composite framed buildings has been successfully adapted to a range of load scenarios under fire conditions. The outcome of this work has been the creation of a general-purpose component-based connection element to be used in global modelling. The paper explains the role and the treatment of deformation reversal in such elements. This is one of the most important principles in robustness analysis in fire, because not only does it deal with the physical reversal process, crucially it ties together the component force-deformation characteristics at changing temperatures.
