This work is an output of the Flood Risk Management Research Consortium and addresses a research need identified in the UK Flood and Costal Erosion Risk Management strategy. Its key contribution is the development, application and tailoring of a sophisticated numerical method to improve both the accuracy and efficiency of a class of flood models that is highly recommended by the Environment Agency (EA).
