Additional information

A practical optimisation technique, originally applied to steel buildings, was developed for the optimum design of reinforced concrete frames under service and extreme load conditions. This research will help achieve more cost effective, resilient and sustainable buildings and infrastructure. The method developed is being proposed for adoption in the new Eurocode-8 and the International Building Code, and the results of this study are being discussed for inclusion in the next Model Code.
