The association between discolouration and asset deterioration is quantitatively demonstrated for the first time in this paper. This is a key factor for proactive infrastructure management. Industry uptake of the concepts presented here have been substantial (e.g. please contact Martin Jackson of Wessex Water Martin.Jackson@wessexwater.co.uk for example details including one scheme with deferred payment of over £2M and other schemes with direct saving each >£250k).
