<07> The work addressed the challenge of designing actuator-based WSN applications and was the first to propose the use of policies as an abstraction to define the global behaviour of WSN applications. Later work simplified the approach to allow global specifications to be automatically decomposed into a set of local ones. The approach has practical applications in numerous related areas - dependable systems (DAIS 10, EASE10), pervasive workflows (AINA10), security (ISARCS10), home networking (POLICY09).
