Additional information

The paper was part of a collaborative research with the Technology University Graz, Austria. One of the first papers to propose a signalling technique that is resilient to the performance limiting effect of the atmospheric turbulence in laser communications. Within one year of publication, this led to the paper being ranked 2nd most downloaded IET Optoelectronics paper within ‘IEEE Xplore’ database in 2008. [Source: email from IET Editorial Assistant, Joanna Lawrie (on behalf of Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Richard Penty) on 23 April 2009.]

The findings are now included in a fast selling book (ISBN: 9781439851883) in the field.

The original idea, its implementation and writing of the article were my contributions as the lead author.
