Additional information

The application of MIMO techniques in the HF band is novel, there being no previously reported work on the topic by other researchers. HF-MIMO was recently identified by the US Navy (citing only our MIMO work from earlier conference versions of the research reported in this paper) as having the potential to increase local coverage and open the possibility for an HF local area network (http://www.navysbir.com/n12_1/N121-097.htm). This paper presents results that indicate HF-MIMO systems are viable. Funded by the EPSRC (EP/D037034/1, £247k; EP/D036666/1, £189k).
