The paper identified a different direction for achieving enhanced thermoelectric performance in low dimensional thermoelectric materials based on bandstructure engineering. The work was the initial point for several subsequent publications and international conference talks, including three invited talks (including the International Workshop on Computational Electronics, 2012). This work led to an invitation to become a member in the consortium of the European Funding FP7-263306 (NanoHiTEC) for the period 2012-2015.
