Additional information

This publication resulted from a collaboration between Boutelle's group (PhD students Feuerstein, Hashemi, Bhatia) and neurosurgeons from Kings College Hospital. Highlighted in Lancet Neurology commentary (Stoccetti, 2011;10:1037-1039). Led to £1.3M translational grant from Wellcome Trust/DoH Healthcare Innovation Challenge Fund (094912/Z/10/Z + HICF-1010-080) to build a prototype clinical instrument. Led to Boutelle being elected Chair of Monitoring Molecules in Neuroscience 2012, symposium organiser ‘real-time clinical analysis’ at Pittcon 2011, and invited to write Annual Review in Analytical Chemistry (2013). Helped Feuerstein gain Alexander von Humbolt Fellowship, Hashemi obtain tenure-track professorship in USA, Bhatia become consultant neurosurgeon. Funded by EPSRC and HeadFirst.
