Comparison of the nonlinear transmission performance of quasi-Nyquist WDM and reduced guard interval OFDM
A detailed assessment of the nonlinear transmission performance of the two main alternative approaches to achieving high information spectral density in wavelength division multiplexed long-haul transmission systems, providing key information for telecommunication equipment manufacturers, such as Huawei Technologies (which supported this work with funding of £150k), and Semtech Corp (£54k), a world-leading supplier of analogue and mixed-signal semiconductor products. As a result of the work reported in the paper, the group was invited to participate in the EU FP7 STREP ASTRON (£283k), and gave invited presentations at the International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks in 2012 and 2013.
