Additional information

The work described in this paper was carried out to investigate the modelling of adhesives in highly deformable bonded structures, through the development of accurate materials data for the adhesive. Jaguar Land Rover now uses the data and test methodology for input into Finite Element analyses of adhesively bonded vehicle structures subject to high strain events. This work was of further importance in generating robustness and therefore confidence in the accuracy of simulations made using the measured data in an automotive type crash structure. The results of this work were also shared with Ford Research Centre in Aachen (Germany).
